How does it work?

Our Pods can be fully assembled in our workshop and lifted into position which means they can be installed within a matter of hours. Fully offsite built Pods are slightly more expensive, but are much more easily moved to a new location, meaning when you move home, you can take your pod with you! If our standard crane lorry can reach the pod destination then the price will be the same as our site assembled ones. If access or budget does not allow our modular pod panels can be assembled on site. Medium sized pods are installed usually within a ten day timeframe.

Price comparison has shown that when compared to two large suppliers of garden buildings in the West Sussex & Brighton area, we are at a similar or lower pricing level. However our structural frame, insulation, quality of materials and design vastly exceeds these offerings. In some cases having a three fold better performance, therefore we believe our attention to detailing and aesthetic design moves our pods away from the commonly seen poorly clad sheds, to a building of distinction and quality.

Better design.

Over the last three years we have developed our designs to be a true addition to your home, with them being built to the same standards as a new house would require. Our pods achieve the same thermal requirements as a home extension, whilst also offering a range of pod extensions that can be attached to your home and meeting all the Building Regulation Requirements.

 

Better ceiling height.

As standard we include all ground work which enables us to alter ground levels to allow a much taller internal ceiling height but still conform to permitted development rules of a total 2.5m height. Internally, we provide as standard ceilings with a height of over 7 foot high. Most other suppliers have a compromised head height, a little over the height of a standard 6'6" door which can be claustrophobic. If for any reason lower levels are not an option (i.e. ground conditions, drainage or placing over existing hard surface) we can build to the reduced height to conform with Permitted Developments rules. If position allows, there is an option to offer up to 9' tall ceilings and still conform to Permitted Development rules ~ as all pods are custom made to order we can make any adjustment in our workshop and build to suit the location.

Better quality.

When comparing our pods, we outperform in thermal and structural aspects. For anyone considering a garden building for every day use, as a starting point you should look at the thermal properties. Whilst studying our competitors, we found most do not to meet all of the building regulations when using construction methods, preventing you from using the pod all year round.

 

Better choice.

As we are able to bespoke design and build any shape, size or style, the choice is endless. It is more cost effective to keep within the ranges shown, but for a modest amount more, to cover our design work and development costs, we can offer our customers exactly what they are looking for.

No Planning.

No planning application is usually required as our pods are designed to be under the 2.5m permitted developments height restriction.

Our pods are insulated to home extension standards and can be upgraded to new build standards, ensuring they can be used all year round.

Our pods are built to a high standard, including the use of an EPDM roof with a life expectancy of over 50 years.

All of our pods are architecturally designed with particular attention to detail. They are entirely customised to suit you and your needs.

Electric & internet.

All the guide prices include the electrical connection of your pod, we can also hard wire your internet connection.

 

Fast Installation.

Pods are built in our workshop which allows a fast and hassle free installation.

 
 

The Process

  • Call into our workshop & offices to see our show pod, or email us your details telling us…

    • Size of Pod required

    • Cladding option

    • Any upgrades you would like

    • Address where pod is to be erected

    • Photograph / plan of final Pod position

    From this information, we can give you a free quotation that will be subject to a final site survey.

    Our workshop, offices and show pod are being refurbished and due to open March 2022.

  • If you are happy with the quotation, we will require a £500 deposit to book in the design work. We will then prepare a detailed set of 2D floor plans and elevations showing electrical layouts etc. This will subtracted from the final cost of your Pod.

    Also at this time we will undertake a site survey which may include a small test bore hole to check the ground conditions are suitable for the foundations we have allowed for in the quote.

  • Once the layout and options have been finalised, we will ask you to sign off the details so we can book in production. At this stage a 50% deposit is required to start the manufacturing process.

    As we bespoke build all Pods, we normally need a lead time of 6-8 weeks before we can fit your Pod into your home. A convenient date is scheduled for your Pod.

  • The foundations and service trench (ground works) are usually started a week before the delivery of the Pod which is when the main installation starts. When the Pod is delivered a further deposit of 25% is required.

    When all the work is finished your Project Manager will make sure you are happy and will run through all the information you need to start enjoying your new Pod. The final balance will then be due.

 
 
 
 

Planning

 

For many years we have dealt with a wide variety of Planning Applications ranging from small permitted development applications through to multi-million pound housing sites. Therefore, we have a very good understanding of the process and planning laws. When needed, we also work with Planning Consultants. There is much reading online explaining how garden buildings can be built

without the need for Planning Consent and this is largely true but in some cases you will not always have standard Permitted Development Rights. We will assess your project for you and in some cases may recommend that a Certificate of Lawful Development is applied for or full Planning Consent and can assist with this on even the most challenging of applications.
